DAY2 were appointed by Capital One to work alongside HLW Architects to design and deliver an ambitious new furniture concept for a new office at the White Collar Factory, in the heart of East London’s Tech City.
A key element of the project brief was to develop a flexible, height adjustable workstation solution that enables users to alternate between collaborative working and concentrated solo working quickly and easily. DAY2 teamed up with UK based desking manufacturers Staverton to design a mobile sit stand workstation and storage spine that allows users to turn their desk through 90 degrees, creating different configurations along the spine depending on the task at hand.
The open plan workstation zones are regularly broken up by standing height touchdown tables and loose furniture settings to encourage informal collaboration and offer alternative agile work settings. The challenge set by HLW was to create these agile zones without compromising on the striking aesthetic of the interior design scheme that references and interacts with the architecture of the White Collar Factory.
One of the most successful spaces in the new office is the large flexible events area adjacent to reception on the building’s 10th floor. The space and the furniture is designed to be easily reconfigured by the facilities team from a comfortable client lounge with generous soft seating to a lecture theatre and high capacity event space. DAY2’s design team specified COR’s innovative Trio sofa to create a giant feature sofa configuration that can be easily broken up and moved around to create space for high density stacking chairs. The sofa is complemented by lightweight but comfortable armchairs, including a newly released folding lounge chair by Moooi.
We are extremely proud of the finished project at the White Collar Factory and we would like to thank Capital One, HLW, BW and Pulse Associates for being such an enjoyable and capable project team to work with.
